Former President Donald TRUMP renewed his criticism of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, accusing him of damaging the U.S. housing market by delaying rate cuts. "Could somebody please inform Jerome 'Too Late' Powell that he is hurting the Housing Industry, very badly?" Trump wrote on Truth Social. "People can’t get a Mortgage because of him."
Housing data shows continued strain, with builder confidence falling to 32 in August despite a 5.2% monthly increase in housing starts. High mortgage rates and weak demand have forced homebuilders to slash prices, with economists predicting no near-term relief.
